Departure at 8am from the Place d’Italie in Paris for the Loire Valley, classified as a Unesco World Heritage site, it could sum up the genius, the gentleness and the French art of living. On arrival, visit the Chambord castle, the largest of all the Loire castles. François I imagined his ideal city there, today an emblem of the French Renaissance. He did not reside there, but came here to hunt, as the trophy gallery shows. It was considered a national treasure by the French and was inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage List in 1981. Afternoon visit to Amboise Castle. The royal castle of Amboise, delicately set above the river, with its gardens suspended between heaven and earth, is a perfect representative of the Loire castles. Under the reign of King Charles VIII, and later under Louis XII and François I, the castle was transformed into a royal residence. Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian genius, was laid to rest in the royal castle of Amboise. Every year, visitors from all over the world come to pay their respects to his tomb in the beautiful Saint Hubert chapel. Then go to Brittany.

After breakfast, departure to Saint-Malo, one of the most beautiful coastlines in Brittany. Walk along the ramparts to admire the scenery of the bay, whose marshes are among the most impressive in Europe. Afterwards, departure for Mont Saint-Michel, a granite rocky islet east of the mouth of the Couesnon river, on which a sanctuary was built in honour of the archangel Saint Michel from 709. Mont Saint-Michel and its bay have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Stroll through the centuries-old streets and ramparts. Visit the abbey, an architectural masterpiece that defies the laws of balance.

After breakfast, depart for Omaha Beach. Omaha Beach is located in the western part of Calvados in Normandy. It is one of the five landing beaches of the Second World War. It was one of the deadliest and most difficult for the Allies to penetrate. Assigned to American troops, it was the beach where the Allies lost the most troops, earning it the nickname ‘Bloody Omaha’. The beach is on three communes: Colleville to the east, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer in the centre and Vierville-sur-Mer to the west. The Colleville area is home to the American cemetery, a must-see during your visit to Omaha Beach. It contains the graves of 9,387 American soldiers who sacrificed their lives for freedom during the Second World War, the chapel and the memorial. Afterwards, departure for Bayeux, a living heritage, a town in the countryside, capital of the D-Day landing beaches. The medieval city of Bayeux has preserved a rich architectural heritage: the historic centre, the Gothic cathedral and the old streets lined with mansions and old timber-framed houses. The famous Bayeux tapestry, known as the Queen Matilda tapestry, created in the 11th century, this woolen embroidery, 70 metres long and 50 centimetres high, recounts the conquest of England by the Duke of Normandy, William the Conqueror. The Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum is the only one to present all the military operations that took place on Normandy soil during the summer of 1944.
Return to Paris, arriving around 8pm, end of the trip.
