Upon arrival in Lyon, visit the city’s Renaissance district: Vieux-Lyon. Admire the colorful buildings on the banks of the Saône and the superb views of the Presqu’île and Croix-Rousse hill. Place Belle Cour, the heart of Lyon’s Presqu’ile district, a vast ochre rectangle where Lyonnais gather for cultural, sporting and political events. Théâtre Gallo-romain, one of Lyon’s most magical sites. The remains of two stages dating back two thousand years still serve as performance venues during the Nuits de Fourvière festival.

Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica, nicknamed the Good Mother, this emblematic monument of Marseille, built on a hill 150 meters above sea level, dominates the entire city of Marseille. From the Notre-Dame esplanade, you can contemplate a 360° panorama of the city and the sea. A major place of pilgrimage for 800 years, the basilica is dedicated to Mary, whose statue atop the bell tower is the protector of the city and its sailors.
La Major Cathedral, also known as Sainte-Marie-Majeure Cathedral. Built in the 19th century, this imposing Byzantine-style church is one of the largest in France. And with good reason: its dimensions are very similar to those of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. From the outside, with its white and green marble façade, it is very reminiscent of the magnificent cathedrals of Florence and Siena. And the interior, with its arcades, statues and mosaics, is well worth a visit.
The Palais Longchamp, one of the city’s finest monuments. It was built in 1862 to celebrate the arrival of the waters of the Durance in Marseille, and features a monumental fountain representing abundance and fertility. It comprises 2 wings housing the Natural History Museum and the Fine Arts Museum. By taking the staircase to the top of the fountain, you can access the Palais Longchamp garden, one of the city’s most beautiful parks. It’s one of the best places to go for a stroll in Marseille.
The Old Port, symbol of the city, is where the Phocaeans who founded Massalia landed in ancient times. Since then, the port has grown steadily, becoming France’s second-largest port in the 19th century. The quays of the Vieux-Port, recently redeveloped, have become a must-see place to stroll in Marseille. Lined by a string of cafés and restaurants, the quays are a popular place to gather for sporting and cultural events.

14H Pick-up at Marseille port, transfer to Avignon, a city in Provence in southeastern France. Upon arrival in Avignon, visit: discover the fabulous City of the Popes and the famous Pont d’Avignon.
Avignon’s Palais des Papes is the city’s most emblematic landmark, and its main historical monument. It was the residence of the Popes throughout the 14th century. No fewer than 9 popes succeeded one another, turning the building into a gigantic fortress and sumptuous palace in less than 20 years. Today, it’s the largest Gothic palace in the West. This is the only period in history when popes have left Rome, Italy, to settle elsewhere.
The Pont d’Avignon (Pont Saint Bénezet), a must-see tourist attraction. Construction began in the 12th century. Damaged and rebuilt several times as the Rhône flooded, the last reconstruction took place in the 17th century. The bridge was built over several centuries, and in its heyday stretched over 900 meters with 22 arches. Its function was to control river traffic.
A stroll across the Pont d’Avignon offers a panoramic view of the Popes’ Palace, the ramparts, the Petit Palais and Fort Saint André.
